I have known Susan since jr. high. She was truly her unique, wonderful self always. The last time we were in touch she bought Girl Scouts from my daughter in March even though we live across the country and she had her own Girl Scouts and probably a house full of cookies. She just wanted to show her support for my daughter. I will miss having her in this world.
Susan instantly became my work bestie when I started at Twist in 2019. She was incredibly generous with her time and always did the right thing. There are a lot of words you could use to describe Susan — funny, smart, kind — but what really stood out to me was her integrity. Honestly, she had more integrity than anyone I've ever met.
I always loved hearing her stories about the girls, and to a certain extent, I feel like I got to watch them grow up over Zoom. You could tell how deeply devoted Susan was as a mother.
Whenever we got together — for work functions or otherwise — she would send me home with a suitcase full of dresses (my daughter is a little younger than Cinnia) and usually a bottle of whisky too. Again, she was so generous.
Even after I left Twist, we stayed in regular contact — she was actually my very first external connection on Slack. We had just been making plans to meet up the Friday before she left us.
I am heartbroken for her family and for the world, because it’s truly a lesser place without Susan in it. She will be dearly, dearly missed.
Susan, you were an amazing friend, momma, wife, daughter, sister, mentor, GS guru, and so much more. I’m still in shock and disbelief that I won’t again get to hear your fabulous laugh, get your random texts for a wine walk, hear your words of wisdom, buy cookies from you, see our beautiful babies grow together, or be on the receiving end of your infinite kindness. The world was a better place because of you, and we truly love & miss you. Rest in Paradise, dear friend.❤️❤️❤️

The Hurley’s are friends of ours but have always felt more like family. When I met Susan, she was so warm, and friendly… and funny too! Her sense of humor was the best. She inspired me as a mama and I see so much of her in Freya and Cinnia. I’ll miss our talks about Penzeys spices, motherhood, politics and beer. Sending all of my love and hugs to her family during this difficult time.

I don't know where to start or what to say. I am utterly heartbroken. I love you forever, Susan. This photo is from one of our 33 Labor Days. Last year it seemed like so many. Now it's not even close to enough.
Girl Scout Juliette’s Jubilee 2019 we had so much fun. We Loved Susan ♥️
